A total of 8 events spread over a week had been conducted by the Department of Physics, Maris Stella College, Vijayawada in collaboration with Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) through the “PHYSICS INSPIRE CLUB MEET – 2018”.  The objective of all these events was  to commemorate Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s third death anniversary and pay homage to Dr. Kalam on 27.07.2018 who is fondly remembered as the 'People's President' and the 'Missile Man of India'. As Dr.Kalam cherished the company of students, the Physics department conducted various inter- collegiate competitions centred around physics students. The objective of the Physics inspire club meet-2018 was to take forward Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam’s mission of awakening the youth to their own potentials


As a part of this program, the following competitions were conducted for inter-collegiate and host college students:
i) An essay writing competition on the topic “Dr. Kalam: My Inspiration” on 23.7.2018,
ii) A drawing competition on “Disaster and Development side of Nuclear Energy” on 23.7.2018. 
iii)  A Video on ‘Life of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam: A Celebration’ on 26.07.2018.
iv) A Symposium on “The Eminent Physicist Whom I Adore and his Contribution to Physics
v)  An Elocution about “Dr.Kalam’s Quote that I like the Most”
vi) Extempore on ‘A Physics term’ given on the spot
vii) Physics Quiz competition
viii)  A documentary video on “Disaster and Development Face of Nuclear energy” in   Commemoration of Hiroshima day on 06.08.2018.

One hundred and twenty four students took part in essay writing competition and fifty students took part in drawing competitions from intermediate, UG and PG sections of various colleges such as   J.M.J College, Tenali, SRR, KBN, P.B.Siddhartha Arts and Science College, SDMS Mahila Kalasala, Andhra Loyola College, and Maris Stella College, Vijayawada and expressed their ideas. Twelve teams, each team of three members took part in the quiz, 15 students in extempore and 26 students in symposium out of which 10 were chosen for symposium finals, 25 students took part in elocution. A total of 80 inter-collegiate students and 150 Maris Stella students of I, II and III B.Sc Physics and 150 intermediate Maris Stella students participated in it and expressed their talents. Books written br Dr.APJ.Abdul Kalam were given as prizes to the winners and certificates to all participants in various competitions. 
Certainly, such inter-collegiate events would awaken the students’ community and motivate them for greater careers in life. The inspire club feels glad that we are able to honour one of the greatest leaders of the country Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam through such students’ focused activities and expresses its gratitude to the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and Maris Stella Management for encouraging to arrange such students’ centric enrichment programmes on our campus.

                          Activity of ‘Inspire Club’ on 04.07.2017




The departments of Physics and Electronics organized a guest lecture on “Internet of Things and future career possibilities” as an activity of ‘Inspire Club’ on 04.07.2017 at auditorium between 10 a.m and 12 noon. I, II and III B.Sc Physics and Electronics students participated in it. Mr.S Bhavani Shankar, Executive manager, R&D department of the Efftronics Systems Pvt., Ltd., addressed the students.


In his address he explained about the latest technology “Internet of Things (IOT) which is connecting various things using internet and sensors. He described how IOT has disrupted many fields and help things to become autonomous and smart so as to self-propel, self-drive and self-maintain without human intervention. IOT is working towards a world where physical objects contain embedded technology that can Sense, Communicate, Act and Interact. This brings in the need for new skills and capabilities such as Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, UX, Data Science and so on. He suggested that the teaching and training methods need to get updated to suit the skills in demand. He advised the students to learn about this latest technology, which is going to be the promise of the future careers. Three hundred students got enlightened by his talk.

Maris Stella College ‘INSPIRE CLUB MEET, 2016’
An Inter –collegiate competition
on
“LIFE of KALAM”

    Guru Purnima is a national wide festival celebrated generally in the month of July which is dedicated towards the Guru in this world. It is all about showing gratitude towards a great teacher who taught us good things in life and for his impeccable and passionate hard work in awakening the youth.  In this regard, Department of Physics, Maris Stella College, Vijayawada considered it as its privilege and Celebrated Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's Life through the ‘INSPIRE CLUB’ and organized “Inspire Club Meet 2016” on the topic “LIFE Of KALAM” at its premises on 27.07.2016 which is Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam’s first death anniversary from 2 p.m to 5 p.m. and conducted various inter- collegiate competitions. Students from intermediate, UG and PG sections of various colleges participated in it.
    Death was only for his physical body but through his inspiring thoughts Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam continues to live in the minds of tillions of people and instils confidence in youth. He inducts hope where there is desperation. He induces peace in the minds where there is turmoil. He shows the brighter part of life to those who are drowned in darkness. He shows the way towards prosperity to those who are drowned in poverty.  Dr.Kalam is our motivation. He is our inspiration. His life is our celebration. Certainly, the deliberations of the inter-collegiate events had awakened the students’ community and motivated them to dream for greater careers in life.

     The various competitions conducted are as follows:
