ECO CLUB

INTRODUCTION:
    Man should live a balanced life on this earth along with nature by protecting mother earth.

In the process of globalisation,as we are moving towards a technosavvy era, human began to feel that they can control everything under the sky.But they never thought of the negative impact of environmental degradation. It is high time we stopped and thought a while about protecting the environment and maintain a sustainable environment with this objective .Our eco club is active in bringing awareness among the students, so that everyone will join hands to protect mother earth.


OBJECTIVES:
1. To conserve Bio-diversity.

2. To promote new attitude towards nature.

3. To promote sustainable resource use.

4. To promote Eco-friendly environment in the campus.

Activities of the year:

·         Eco-Club has organised a Pollution check-up camp in the campus with the help of “Mithra Honda” on 20-07-13.

              Pollution check was done for the vehicles of both students and staff.


        Club has conducted “Cycle-Rally” from Maris Stella college to Rama nagar ,Nidamanuru and back around 25kms on 20-01-14 at 10a.m.  with 40 students.

1.      Students gave Slogans on protection of environment by reducing the air pollution.

2.      Dr. V. N. Manga Devi , Mrs. M. P. Vardhani, Mrs. G. UshaKumari  organised this rally.


·         On 8th December 2013 (FETE Day) Eco-Club members Collected the plastic waste from the stalls and they collected service charges . The amount collected is donated to college on the occasion of FETE.

 Activities of the year 

·         Awareness programme on “Damage Caused by Plaster of Paris” on the eve of “ Vinayaka-Chathurdhi” on 25-08-2014. Mud idols of Ganesh stall is arranged in the campus.

·         Arranged Invited Lecture by Dr.DharaniPriyaM.Sc .,Ph.D. on “Environmental System Aspects of Maintainance”.

·         On December 2014 (FETE Day) Eco-Club members Collected the plastic waste from the stalls and they collected service charges . The amount collected is donated to college on the occasion of FETE.
·         Clean and green programme .

Activities of the year :

·         Lecture given by Mrs. C. V. L. Karuna  H.O.D. Dept of Botany  to the students on “Awareness about Eco-Club” 0n 07-07-2015.

·         From 13-08-15 to 15-08-15 celebrated “An Eco-Friendly Independence Day” in college campus also in and around different schools of Vijayawada. In this regard Our Eco-Club promoted the message of

1.      Avoid using plastic flags as they are not Environmental friendly

2.      Avoid using our National Flag as an item of decoration – please do not threw the flag on the ground- Respect it.

                   The same activity with the same message was undertaken on Republic Day 2016 also.

·         Plantation programme in the campus .

·         Clean & Green programme in the campus.

Vijayawada on 07-07-17.
·         Plantation programme in the campus on 16-08-2017 .

·         Clean & Green programme in the campus on 08-12-17 named as I Love Maris Stella (1-4-11).
·         Awareness programme on “Damage Caused by Plaster of Paris” on the eve of “ Vinayaka-Chathurdhi” on 24-08-2017. Mud idols of Ganesh are distributed in the campus with the collaboration of A.P. pollution control Board.



·         USAGE OF PAPER:
Collection of paper materials from the departments of the college and handed over to Well-Being Out of Waste (WOW) for Recycling Purpose.
Swatchagrahi certificates are issued to the students , who are participated in the WOW programme actively.


·         “Best Out of Waste” programme organised during cultural week in the month of December .

·         Continuing pollution free day programme in the campus.
